Proud Students; Proud Parents; proud Professor: and VERY PROUD American Society of Panama community: Ten students graduated from high school and two students from the 9th grade. All the students are very grateful and thank The American Society of Panama for believing in them.
Five students from the American Christian School completed their high school studies and graduated in December. Aisha Thompson graduated with honors as first in her class with a 5.0 GPA. Aisha also sang and gave the commencement address. Aisha plans to attend the university and become a doctor. Attending the graduation were Jorge Estemac, Charlotte Pierce and Eunice Greaves. It was a memorable occasion to experience a very well organized graduation ceremony where five of “our” students graduated. We saw the joy, laughter, the tears, and pride from everyone who attended.

Aisha Thompson received top honors with a 5.0 GPA. She attended CELI Classes, and sang the US national anthem at our election night. She took Christian Music singing classes with Geancarlo Lagrotta. She was also a reader in a local play at The Theater Guild of Ancon. Aisha desires to be a Pediatrician.
Waldimir Castillo who attended Colegio Abel Bravo and was on the honor roll (4.6 GPA). He played basketball on the school’s team. He attended a Rotary Leadership camp in Florida. He is also one of our top 5 students attending CELI classes every Saturday. He desires to be an Orthopedist, and a chemist. He has received the Kiwanis Intercollegial Championship, and represented Colón in the city of Panamá.
Luisa Ibarra also graduated from Colegio Ebenezer in Colon with a 4.34 GPA. She’s a new recipient.
Zurisadai Cayasso attended Colegio Ebenezer in Colon with a 4.5 GPA. She will be attending the University of Panama. She is a child rights advocate and an evangelist. Zurisadai has participated in several writing and spelling bee-type contests. She gave the invocation at our Thanksgiving event. Zurisadai is also one of our top 5 students attending CELI classes every Saturday.
Celineth Jordan graduated with honors in 2nd place with a 4.65 GPA at Escuela Bilingue La Academia with a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis on computer science. She desires to study medicine at the University of Panama, where she was taking courses for the entrance exam. She also worked in the Pacora Health Center and practiced at Copa Airlines in the occupational health department.
Yariela Franco atended Instituto Comercial Panamá. Graduated with a 4.5 GPA. She was a very dedicated student. Fun and very active. She now working at a bank. Ramona and Paul Kimmel were her mentor.
Ninth Grade Graduations:
Denise Lemos attended Escuela La Salle de Colón and was on the honor roll; graduated from the 9th grade (4.2 GPA)
Jonathan Soto attended Escuela Be-Thel de Adultos, Colón. He graduated 9th grade. He also attended the CELI English classes.
Marcia Henry-Lokay, our scholarship chair, and committee members have an exceptional selection process to award scholarships to deserving students who maintain high standards. For Marcia, these are “her” students and she stays connected with them, often times calling them, encouraging them and mentoring them. The students receive more than a monetary award; they receive loving, caring attention.
To all of you: If it were not for members like yourselves we would not be able to continue. You do make a big difference in helping AMSOC support student scholarships for needy kids and the various charities. We appreciate your support to make a difference in the lives of these young adults.
